The work of Bas Linssen revolves around memories and the longing for what once was. While working, he seeks to bring back, feel, and imagine the things he has experienced and seen. Bas encapsulates these memories in drawings and paintings, where, like in a film, multiple fragments intertwine. What drives him is the desire to uncover and preserve hidden layers. In his work, he searches for what remains of what once was. It is a process of drawing, scratching, removing, sanding, layering, and kneading until he has captured his memory as accurately as possible. What emerges is for Bas a relic whose beauty transports him back in time and simultaneously offers comfort. Drawings and sketches that Bas previously created in response to daily walks in the forest have been translated into larger works that evoke what these walks inspire in him. Titled 'Comfort', Bas created a series consisting of reflections on the news that dominates the world and preoccupies him. Additionally, there are some images or '3D drawings' on display.
