Back to the ’63 Beat at Phoenix

Phoenix brings back the music of 1963: beat, surf, soul, folk and rock ’n’ roll from the year of Beatlemania, Motown and Louie Louie. Performed live by Real Stallions 1, Real Stallions 2 and The B-Tones.

Information

Some years make music history. 1963 was one of them. The Beatles released their debut album and sparked a genuine Beatlemania. The Rolling Stones appeared with their very first single, Motown was firing on all cylinders and Be My Baby became a timeless classic thanks to Phil Spector’s Wall of Sound.

There was plenty happening on the other side of the Atlantic, too. The Beach Boys scored a hit with Surfin’ USA, The Kingsmen recorded Louie Louie and Bob Dylan showed with Blowin’ in the Wind that music can have a message, too.

On Saturday 12 December, the musical year 1963 comes to life once again at Poppodium Phoenix. The members of Real Stallions 1, Real Stallions 2 and The B-Tones will share the stage for three sets packed with classics. The only rule? Every song must be from 1963.

Whether you used to play these records until they were worn out or you’re only discovering the music now: everyone is welcome! Admission is free, so put on your dancing shoes and sing along to songs that have been going strong for more than sixty years.
