Agnès Varda: Les glaneurs et la glaneuse + potato soup

On Saturday 18 October, Filmhuis Botanique and Van Gogh Air will screen the documentary Les glaneurs et la glaneuse by Agnès Varda, as part of the exhibition Als een aardappel by Noortje de Brouwer (Stadsgalerij Breda, from 11 October). This intimate and idiosyncratic film from 2000 has become a milestone in Varda’s oeuvre and is considered her personal calling card.

In the documentary, Varda travels through France and meets ‘glaneurs’ – people who pick up, collect, and reuse. Out of necessity, conviction or love for what remains. She intertwines these encounters into a poetic reflection on transience, re-evaluation and connectedness.
