Information
There are films that have received incredibly good reviews, yet are still too often overlooked – or that you have simply missed. To give you one last chance to see these films on the big screen, Filmhuis Botanique Breda screens a film that has been showered with five-star reviews on the last Tuesday of every month.
This time, it’s The Quiet Girl.
About The Quiet Girl:
A restrained and moving Irish drama about nine-year-old Cáit, who is sent to stay with distant relatives during a long, warm summer. In the quiet of her new surroundings, she discovers a warmth and sense of security she has never known at home. Introduced by Maarten van den Berg.
Ireland, 1981. With another child on the way, there is not enough room for young, introverted Cáit (Catherine Clinch) at home with her parents. She is sent to stay with relatives in the countryside for the summer, where she is lovingly taken in by her aunt Eibhlín (Carrie Crowley). Cáit’s stern uncle Seán (Andrew Bennett) has more difficulty with her presence. Gradually, Cáit discovers that there are secrets in this house too. Nevertheless, she begins to blossom, but every summer must come to an end.
