Personal possessions are being exhibited such as instruments and homemade objects that were used during performances. Throughout the expo, Lilian will organise musical performances that evoke the spirit of Blue Sounds.Blue Sounds Experimenting with new forms, Breda's Adrie Heeren (aka Frank Marshall) and Oosterhout's Karel Vermijs explored their ideas for this exhibition.&nbsp; Their performance lasted a large part of their lives, even afterwards... In the mid-1970s, the Blue Sound surprised audiences with their experimental sound influenced by 'primeval' rhythms, distorted and created from musical instruments, voices, animals, gongs, machines, and so on. Playing around with all these sounds often resulted in very meaningful musical pieces that were quite challenging for the average listener to comprehend.As a spectator, you couldn't just digest it unless you unconditionally open yourself up and don't let yourself be hindered by your own values of what is allowed and possible. Hypnotic drum/percussion work, inducing trance through pulsating strobe lights and penetrating synthesizer power. Dissolving into your trance and releasing the difficult-to-manage thirst for power and urge for destruction. Making contact with the 'spirits of nature'. Modern shamanism... healing yourself. More relevant in this century than in the last.During the expo, a one-time limited edition of Blues Sounds Magazine will be offered, edited by Han Speckens, alternative city saviour in every respect. Hereby positioning Blue Sounds as city, regional, and national heritage.

This exhibition is an initiative of Lilian Burden, who herself participated as an artist in the final years of Blue Sounds. This exhibition captures Blue Sound in images and sounds.
