MuziekSalon Spronk: 'The Magic Mountain' by Thomas Mann at Het Gele Huis in Princenhage

Musical 'storytelling performance' in the Literature & Music series about the book 'The Magic Mountain' by Thomas Mann.

Information

How do you stay humane in times of polarisation? Thomas Mann explored this a century ago already, in his book 'The Magic Mountain'. The book is an undisputed highlight in his oeuvre and vividly depicts how the German intellectual elite fled into the ethereal world of culture on the eve of the First World War.

Framed with impressive music on cello and piano, writer / poet Ben Verschuren talks about this extraordinary novel. Verschuren has given several courses on 'The Magic Mountain', a book of nearly 1000 pages. You don't need to have read the book to enjoy this reading experience.

Literature & Music is a collaboration between Breda Library and Muzieksalon Spronk.

With the cooperation of:

  • Astrid Schijns (cello)
