Lecture - Astronomical observation

Theo van Es gives a lecture at the People's University about the universe and how it is studied.

Information

All that we know and see (the stars, the planets, and ourselves) accounts for only 20 percent of the matter in the universe. The remaining 80 percent consists of so-called dark matter. We cannot see this dark matter, but we can detect it in other ways. And we now know that this mysterious form of matter governs our universe.

How do we know that? What does this mysterious stuff consist of? And what are we doing to find answers to these questions? Theo van Es answers these questions. You will also discover what equipment, techniques, and 'tricks' astronomers use to study the universe effectively.

Use is mainly made of images and videos so that this complex matter becomes fun and understandable for everyone.
