The Personare Foundation celebrates the 40th anniversary of its conductor Ad van Unen with a performance of the opera "King Arthur" by Henry Purcell. The story surrounding King Arthur, most notably known from medieval tales, is based on the wars between the Britons and the Saxons. Arthur, the refined king of the Britons, fights against the uncouth king of the Saxons, Oswald, for the hand of the beautiful blind Emmeline. The love struggle escalates into a war, in which not only humans but also supernatural beings such as Cupid and Venus appear, and the Germanic gods Wodan, Thor, and Freya are invoked. 

Especially for this occasion, this semi-opera has been adapted into the surprising performance "King Arthur and Emmeline: The Reunion."

Wendy Roobol and Joost van Velzen penned a completely revised script! Additionally, they will, along with Noël Casteleyn and Julie Fraiture, perform the solo roles. The orchestra is conducted by Emmy Storms, and both in the choir and orchestra, you will see many familiar faces of musicians who have collaborated with Ad van Unen for many years. Together, the participants in the choir and orchestra have all the right ingredients to elevate the performance to great musical heights. But an anniversary is a celebration, and that comes with a surprise. We found this surprise through the Stanislas College in Delft, the place where Ad van Unen's 40-year career began. 

Thus, we celebrate on stage the union between Arthur and Emmeline, but it will also be a true reunion for participants and the conductor. We naturally hope for a large audience at this special and festive performance to make this anniversary even more celebratory together.
