Filmhuis Breda presents on Friday 30th May a full-evening program where you can enjoy live music, a legendary documentary, and delicious food from Pol's kitchen.
 
Even before the sixties and Woodstock, fashion photographer Bert Stern pioneered recording multi-day music festivals. Jazz on a Summer’s Day became a historical document and the first prominent concert film. Jazz on a Summer's Day is a charming musical account of a summer day in times long past, fully restored in 4K.

Before the screening, singer Dehaze will perform live and you can enjoy a delicious meal prepared by chef Pol.

1958 About the film:Newport, Rhode Island, is the summer setting for the annual jazz festival in this small town on the east coast of the United States. Besides recordings of performances by musical giants such as Louis Armstrong, Thelonious Monk, Mahalia Jackson, and Chuck Berry, Jazz on a Summer's Day also depicts a compelling image of the stylish American fifties. Director and seasoned photographer Bert Stern not only captured the artists and their music intimately but also filmed with the same passion the visitors, the surroundings, and casual passersby.
