White Smoke

<p>Through her work, Marloes questions the context, herself, and her surroundings. She wonders what her place is and what space she can occupy. ‘How do I relate to what already exists? How do I interpret this? In what way does this influence my work?’ In doing so, Marloes grapples with the friction she feels between being a citizen and an artist.</p><p>By using textiles, ceramics, plastics, beads, and glitter, she brings forth individual elements of her utopia. These works contain many recognizable elements, but they also carry a sense of alienation. What is real and what is not?</p>

Marloes visualises her world of thoughts. By retreating as an artist into her own utopia, she experiences the freedom to define and realise her own conditions without constantly being accountable to others.
