How do you view dance and how do you perceive visual art? Art is human and dance is visual, but do you always see that?In A Field dancer Houkje van Hoek and visual artist Bas Kaufman explore the connection between these two art forms. Through dance, time is added to the artwork. The artwork forms the framework of this time. Afterwards, there is the image, but how?Houkje van Hoek is a dancer and is always engaged with creation in the moment. Starting in modern dance and as an improviser, she now finds inspiration in Japanese butoh. Dance as a performing art has the power to bring people into the moment and to connect them with their own body. The search for ‘the golden thread’ and her love for the language of the body are her driving forces in her profession.Bas Kaufman is an artist who draws his inspiration from his current life, previous life, and possibly the next life. The cycle of day and night, life and death, and the myth of eternal repetition play an important role in his work.
